The P85D is an electric operated car that is the highest performing sedan in the world. Did the veterans of the auto industry ever think the underdog would create the world’s safest vehicle with high performance as a side dish?
What does the P85D actually stand for you might ask well the “P” stands for Performance because of its 691 horsepower, top speed of 155 miles per hour and that it goes 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. The “85” stands for the 85kWh battery that boasts operational life span of 275 miles! The “D” stands for dual motor because there are two motors in the vehicle, one located above the rear axle that provides 470 horsepower and one above the front axle that provides 221 horsepower. Having two motors allows the vehicle to drive in all-wheel drive that is amazing considering most high performance vehicles can only drive in front wheel or rear wheel.
All good things have a catch; the price tag on the all new Tesla P85D is $105,670. But with government incentives purchasing one can be as cheap as $95,000.The P85D is unique because it’s a high performance vehicle with the luxuries of a sedan. I consider Tesla Motors to be an underdog because they were founded just recently in 2003, while other companies like Aston Martin have been around since 1913. That is an entire century advantage when it comes to the experience and reputation of a company that boasts unique and coveted luxury and performance vehicles.
I am not done just yet, the P85D has auto pilot and forward and back looking cameras that scan the environment for possible hazards and obstacles around the vehicle. Ultra-sonic sensors are positioned
360º around the vehicle to alert the driver of potential hazards. This helps to avoid collisions or if an accident is unavoidable the vehicle will maneuver itself to produce a less serious accident within fractions of a second. The sedan seats 5 people with an optional upgrade that seats 7 people with the two extra seats in the back of the vehicle. These can fold down into a compartment which provides room for storage.
Tesla Motors is advancing its technology at a rapid pace which makes them a formidable competitor. This company is revolutionizing the auto industry and helping mankind as a whole. They have made all of their patented technology available to the public. This benefits science by providing the building blocks for additional inventions to be built upon. Very few companies would literally give their patented technology away for free with no incentive or reward.
