Home Memoirs
Where filled with the smell of warm “feel better soup”my mom made from my grandmother's recipe when I got flu in cold winter weather.
The windowsill my sister and I put our elbows holding our cheeks with our hands and looking out side the window to see if Dad was coming with our candy bars in his pockets. When I was in mud and my knees were scratched from the muddy pond I fell in on the way to school while I was running to school not to be late then chased by a dog and had to stay at the school anyway. When I fall asleep between my parents in their room feeling safer than mine at times when thunder crashed, rain fell and shadows scratched my window. Where my mom is for 9 year-old me who learned loving, compassion and everything that makes me “me” today. Where you find out who you are. The kitchen wall that has a 13” diameter dark pencil colored circle that my 2 year-old proudly drew that made me feel not that great. A picnic day we went with friends and our little family. The day during the volleyball game our friend saying “That's not me!” after my 3 month-old tooted loudly in his car seat on the grass where we played while sleeping. Being carried on your husband's arms after falling from your garage stairs while you were hurrying out for an appointment you don't want to miss. Where I am a wife, a mom, a driver, a doctor, a nurse, a police, a judge, a cleaner, a law maker, a queen. |
Home IsWhen I was 3rd grade, I loved to run from the front balcony to the back balcony like a super woman in our little small apartment. However, the wet floor would make me fall down few times in the middle.
When I finally wait for the weekend come, so I can sleep late and get up late. But, my mom would open her favorite disc to wake you up on 8 o’clock morning. Follow the music; you could also hear your mom’s beautiful voice. Every time when I finish my homework in weekend, I’ll open the TV and the Singing machine. Woo hoo, welcome to my live show start! A place that always covers with a layer of dust on the floor everyday. Then, I need to help my mom to clear the floor when she was outside of home. I feel very successful when seeing a bucket of clear waters turns to a bucket of black ink. Before we moved in our new house, my family and I need to spend two weeks to print the wall, rebuilding the floor, washed all the cupboards that full with some unknown liquid and clean the entire dog’s foods in the vents. A Place that always has tasty smell flies around the house. When I open the kitchen’s door, all the tasty smell come attack my face, nose, and stomach. The cooking rice, BBQ steak, spicy tofu, steam pork, and a sweet carrot corn soup. Yum! A small little farm we could farm many different kinds of vegetables. But in every morning, all the birds would come to steal or destroyed our beautiful little farm. All the vegetables are injuring. In between May to August, the grapes that farm in the side alley in our house start growing. The grape vines climbed up along our wall, and also crossing to our neighborhood’s wall. Beginning August, the grapes finally done. It tasted like sugar! |
Home IsPlaying monopoly on rainy days because there is nothing better to do with your day and you spend three hours painfully rolling the dice avoiding the properties your brother and father have waiting to rob you of your worthless monopoly money.
Walking into the kitchen to be greeted by your Siamese cat Hobbes standing on the counter meowing for the purpose of you to give him cat treats and turn the faucet on so he can have a drink after the cat treats are scarfed down in five seconds flat. Seeing your grandfather Richard who is basically deaf and legally blind sitting in his favorite chair in front of the TV trying to watch the San Francisco Giants beat some other baseball team but he can’t even see the score or which team is up to bat. Having every luxury at your fingertips because of the fact both my parents worked their whole lives to provide a luxurious life they didn’t have as children, for my brother and me. Where you wake up in your queen sized bed every morning and not wanting to crawl out because it is utterly impossible, but at night that same wonderful bed never seems to be as comfortable when you’re trying to fall asleep for an important event in the morning that you can’t be late for. The smell of clean clothes fresh from the dryer radiating heat as you fold your clothes and then you put on some socks because the floor is cold in the basement during the winter. The best place to do my homework every day because I get to enjoy the tranquility of putting on pajamas at three p.m. and not having to care what others think of me or what I wear. The lemon scented candle that is in the kitchen because it’s always lit when dinner is ready, just the smell of the candle reminds my stomach how hungry I really am. |
