Air pollution is one of the most serious issues around the world. China is the most affected by air pollution than any other country in the world. Lin Fen is a small city in China, and it is the most polluted city in the world. In the video “The devastating Effects of Pollution in China” produced by VICE, the video pointed out the pollution problem in Lin Fen. This video has great interviews with the government officers, doctors and citizens. The interviews in the video cover all the issues that cause by the pollutions of coal factories surrounded in Lin Fen. This video is perfect for people to understand the importance of air quality and the damaging effects of air pollution. I was raised in China and watching this video changed my perspective on the issues with the overwhelming amount of air pollution there.

However, the video didn’t talk about solutions to the vast amount of pollution being created every day. China does take steps to change the pollution, such as the Chinese government shutting down some of the factories and mines or putting signs by the streets to warn people to take care of the environment. I don’t think it was an effective solution. There are more effective solutions available. In the video, they should list some of the solutions to help people take steps to correct the serious pollution problem. For example, people could change their need for fossil fuels by converting to renewable energy sources.

Then, the video didn’t have strong supporting evidence that shows Lin Fen is the most polluted city; the most toxic city for people to live in. They should give a contrast between Lin Fen and other cities around the world. The average rate of air quality would give a serious shock to audiences. The interviews were mainly of the coal industry officers or the Greenpeace officers. It only shows their opinions, their opinions don’t represent the citizens’ opinions. Every interview they did with the citizens only had a few questions to ask. They should interview with other people and combine their opinions together because the citizens view are the most important. Most people who lived in Lin Fen were working in the coal factories or other jobs that related to coal. The video didn’t show the workers’ point of view about air pollution or what health conditions they suffer from due to working with the coal. There are lots of questions that stock in my mind. The video didn’t give a reason about why were most people need to work in coal factories? What benefits provide to those workers? I hope the VICE group can products more videos around the world to expand issues in society. According the informations and conditions to remind people about the beautiful of our world.
